is it me being an old cynic?
But are people really taken in by the adverts showing goods at 40% 50% 60% off prices...
Are they giving them away at a huge loss (I do not think so !) or are they overchargeing in the first place ? why do they feel they want to advertise their goods like this .Do they think the publice at large are genuinely taken in by these adverts.or is it the old switch selling formula.. get in the door and woah betide the salesman if he does sell the advertised prices..(years ago a well known Carpet retailer would sack salesmen who actually sold the carpet advertised at below cost price advertised on television and newspapers)
I must admit being in the trade for too many years to really remember I thought the abolition of RRP was meant to stop false discounting. I know the internet is a bit less monitored than printed press. but 50% off What ? a figure plucked out of the air or what.
Surely when people buy something and I include myself in this.. they have a price they are willing to pay and want to maximise the value for money they get for that price. Also they want service we all do ! not false promises and flash marketing good old fashioned service. And a feeling that the money they have parted with was appreciated, worked for and gave value for money ..
So .....after falling off my soap box and picking myself..I would really value your comments..
Or am I an old Cynic lol
